Believe
“Then Jesus told him, Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed.”
OBSERVE
In this verse we see the essence of Faith explained by Jesus himself to Thomas. If we look at the definition of faith it is a belief that something is true or real, without having evidence. It is belief in what we have not seen with our own eyes. Jesus Goes on further to say that “..blessed are those who have not seen and yet still believed”. There is so much power in our faith. Scripture also tells us that faith like a mustard seed can move mountains. Our faith doesn’t have to always be big, God just wants us to trust him WHOLE heartedly. Scripture also tells us to walk by faith and NOT by sight. I know, a lot easier said than done but imagine actually living that way. Trusting God with everything and believing that He is fighting for us even when we don’t see a way. Living a life full of undeniable faith. I want that.
APPLICATION
I am the worst at believing in things I have not seen. I need proof, evidence, cold hard facts of existence. As I read this verse I began to think about how many times I have doubted God simply because I had not seen a way to where He was leading me, or I had doubted just because of how big the giant in front of me looked. I don’t want my faith to just be based off of the facts. I want my faith to be rooted in what I have not yet seen because I know that God has so much more in store for me. Living a life based off of facts is boring, and who what’s to live a boring life? I want to live a life of faith, one rooted in things I have yet to see because I know that my God is faithful. “Blessed are those who have not seen and YET believe”, I want to have faith like that. No facts needed, just the conviction that my God can do the impossible.
PrayER
God, thank you for today. Thank you for your love for me. Thank you for sending your only son to die for me. I pray that you help me strengthen my faith in you. That I may not waiver at the signs of fear and doubt this world throws at me but that I may stand strong in knowing that you are still with me. Help me live by faith and not by sight. Help me trust you more with my present and my future. I’m sorry for the times I have tried to take control, for the times that I have doubted your goodness and your faithfulness. You’re awesome, I love you. Amen.
