“But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire.” 

James 3:5-6

OBSERVE

Imagine a crane at a construction site. It can either be used to build a new building or, if it has a wrecking ball attached, it can be used to destroy an existing building. The same tool can be used to build and destroy. In a similar way, our words can be used to build or destroy. The Bible refers to our words as both honey and fire. Our words can be sweet or they can burn. In a time when so many things have been torn down around us, our school year, our graduations, and our routines, the world needs builders to help repair some of the damage.

APPLICATION

Every day this week, pick a friend or family member who could use some kind words and reach out to them. Tell them one cool wonderful thing you think about when you think about them.

PrayER

Ask God to help you see that person the way He sees them. He might just remind you of one cool wonderful thing about that person you may not have been able to remember on your own.
