Celebrate Recovery – April 16

by Apr 16, 2020Celebrate Recovery

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me (Ps. 139.1). If we believe that then we should know that the lies we tell ourselves about our sins are useless.  Not to be cliché, but at the end of the day, what this verse tells us is that we can lie to ourselves and we can lie to each other, but God knows “everything about” us.  But, here’s the cool part.  The pressure’s off.  Jesus, even knowing everything about us, still went to the cross for us!  He took all of our lies, our cheats, our crap, on Himself so that we could stand before God, the maker of the universe, CLEAN!  This week’s CR drives us to take an inventory of ourselves.  Not because God requires we tell Him what we did, He knows what we did.  But, when we get to a place where we can lay bare the junk we have in our hearts, only then can we be ready to accept the truth – that we can’t wash away our own sin, but we can accept God’s free gift of Grace!

  1. This is my 1st time Watching And becoming familiar with Your recovery Program at life point.I understand a lot of what Was being talked about and prayed upon being a mom of 2 addicts, 1 way off the grid and 1 with 3 years clean.I also suffer from Ptsd, depression, OCD and anxiety. I’m an extrovert.Going through this difficult time Has had some very dark moments While I fight very hard to Try to stay above the water as they say Talking to God a lot and acknowledging and appreciating my blessings.I’m still not quite sure Where my life and experiences fit in Celebrate recovery But I was given the advice to check it out that it would be helpful for me. Almost a year coming to life point I’m still not fully ready in my heart to do a lot of volunteer things as I did in my past church life at my other churches But I also want to feel included and cared about and up to this point I don’t feel that way based on just a few conversations with several people since last fall. I’m sorry if this is all over the place I just started speaking and everything came out. Thank you for listening/reading. God bless everyone and stay well.I’m
