Community Among Us
Community Among Us
I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong – that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
Romans 1:11-12 (NIV)
However, that is not what God intended for me and that is certainly not what He intended for any of us. Life is exhausting and it wears at the soul. Our God knew this and already designed a solution to relieve some of our suffering: a community among us. In Genesis 2:18, God said “It is not good for man to be alone” and so He created a partner, a friend, a confidante, another human for us.
At LifePoint, we use this phrase “do life together” to encourage each other to join small groups. That is because we believe that God created humans to live in community, where we can encourage and remind each other Who we live our lives for. As a community of believers, we should radiate God’s perfect love to each other and everyone we meet, creating a safe and loving environment where we can all be encouraged and encourage others too.
Dear God, thank you for designing humans to live in community, where we can find Your encouragement and love in physical form when we are lost or tired or alone. You always know what we need and you provide for us. I pray that we can serve as a light and source of rejuvenation for those around us. We are forever grateful and blessed for Your ever-constant presence in our lives and we love You.
How can you encourage someone today? It can be something grand such as inviting them to dinner or taking them out for coffee, or it could be something short and sweet like sending them a text to let them know you are thinking of them. No action is too small.
You never know when God will use you to rejuvenate someone who is spiritually exhausted. And if you are in that dark place and feel like everyone has left you or betrayed you, know you are not alone – there are friends, family members, co-workers, and fellow believers who love you and care about you.
We Need Each Other
