Celebrate Recovery – May 7
We are “those people.” If you’re a regular CR attendee, you laugh at that. It’s a reference we hear about ourselves from those outside the ministry who believe that we are a bunch of messed up people who need to go to a 12 step recovery program because we’ve lost ourselves and need to get our lives straight. We are Those People. Funny thing is, whether we like to admit it or not, we are all Those People. Celebrate Recovery isn’t about fixing people with obvious problems. Nor is it about fixing people with subtle problems. In fact, we don’t fix people – God does that! It’s about helping people to get to a place where they can admit they need a savior. It’s about helping “the everyman” learn that regardless of what the World says about your life (messed up or perfect) God sees you as a son or daughter. Wholly, wonderfully, and completely loved. This week you’ll hear about a man who looks like one of “those people” but really isn’t unique in his trails. Anything that draws us away from God – money, sex, control, gossip, vain conceit, rage – will cause us pain. Pain that, if laid at the feet of Jesus, can be healed.
