Enough – Easter 2020

by Apr 12, 2020Easter, Easter 2020, Sermon

The last week of Jesus’ life began with a parade of celebration and hope. He would be dead by the end of that week. What happened? Even in darkness, God is at work; it just doesn’t feel like it sometimes. And even though there is no darkness in God, He’s never opposed to entering the darkness. God does profound things there. So, don’t instinctively run from the darkness. You might be running from God.

Discussion Questions

Read the account of that first Easter morning in Luke 24:1-8. What is the angel’s summary of God’s plan (v. 7)? Since Jesus had described this plan to the disciples (Matthew 16:21), why would they have forgotten it?

The word “enough” means the right amount to satisfy. Are you ever afraid that you won’t have enough (food, sleep, money, time, love)? What might people mean when they say, “I’m just not enough.” Have you ever felt you’re not enough? Explain.

You’re not enough to overcome sin and death in your life. Read Titus 3:4-7. What do you notice about your inability and God’s ability?

Only Jesus is enough to overcome sin and death in your life. What happened through the death of Jesus for you? (Read 2 Corinthians 5:19, 21). What does it mean that Christ has already died for the sins of the entire world (1 John 2:2)?

How does Jesus’ resurrection affect your own resurrection? What’s the promise in the words of Jesus in John 6:40?

Take a few minutes to meditate on the wonder of Easter. What do you want to say to God about the death and resurrection of Jesus for you?
