The Final Victory

Jesus is distinct from any other political leader. He is God in the flesh. He is a coming King. He will bring earthly powers into account. He will win the final victory. It’s not unusual these days to hear people ask, “Is this the end times.” Maybe. God tells us what...

Vote for Jesus

Vote for Jesus

It seems clear that Jesus wants to shape culture. To ultimately transform the conscience and morality of a people. His disciples anticipated that Jesus was about to establish a political machine capable of toppling the Roman Empire. But that’s not what Jesus did. The...

When You Find and Follow Jesus

When You Find and Follow Jesus

Becoming a Christian and living as one are two different things. God refers to one as justification and the other as sanctification. We might also understand these two distinctions as finding Jesus and following Jesus. Blur this distinction between salvation and...

Your Life with God

Your Life with God

Salvation is often viewed as a singular “event” or moment in our lives. By God’s grace, we receive salvation by believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus to save us. There is a sense in which this is absolutely true, from the moment of belief we are saved...

Take the time to thank others. It is not hard to say “thank you, “ is it?  But how often do we forget?  In today’s story, we will hear about 10 people who had a lot to be thankful for but only one actually remembered to say “thank you.” Sometimes it can be hard for us...

Just Like Our Father

I do understand the many ways that our parent-child relationship is a microcosm of the relationship God desires with His children. How many of us give in to following our own selfish desires when His purpose feels distant or isn’t clear?

Parenting (Barely) Adult Children

During the teen years, I’ve gotten to watch our daughter and son transform from baby-faced middle-schoolers into one adult and one almost-but-not-quite-adult before my very eyes. Yes, there have been challenges and many tears (on both their part and mine!), but I love seeing the people they have become and are still becoming.

Show Gratitude to God.Today we will hear a story about David and his wife, Michal, who cared more about the way things LOOKED.   We will hear about a time that David was dancing and thanking God.  Michal thought it made David look silly to dance and thank God in front...

Rowboat or Sailboat?

Do you feel in need of REST? Turn to Jesus. I once hear that we can either live as a rowboat or a sailboat. In the rowboat we can be feverishly striving, rowing with all of our might, exhausted in our own attempts and efforts to please God. In the sailboat however, we catch the wind of God’s Holy Spirit and surrender to where He is at work and God takes us where He wills in useful service.

Living with a Full House

Last year, I started a new position that required that I work from home. A difficult adjustment on its own, this was also during the public school’s holiday break, and all three of my small children were also home. I created an office space in our spare bedroom in the basement, and within weeks, a usual occurrence began happening.
