It’s Personal

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.

 1 John 5:14

God is so good at giving us personal glimpses of His faithfulness. Answered prayers are such a special way that God taps me on the shoulder and reminds me that He hears my prayers and has my best interest in mind.

Recently, God tangibly showed me how He answered a prayer I prayed on behalf of someone else a few years ago. It was a sweet moment of realization that God heard my prayer all those months ago and He answered in greater ways that I could have imagined.

I was reflecting on this with some friends this past week, and they shared moments in their lives just days ago where God revealed His faithfulness to them in special ways. Each of these different ways God made His goodness known was personal to each of us.

This reveals such a special part of God’s character—His intimate knowledge of us and His desire for us to know His loving kindness in a deep and profound way.

Lord, let us remember Your faithfulness while celebrating the moments we see prayers answered. Allow us to remember that even if we don’t see a prayer answered, You hear us and You love us.

God showed me in these simple, personal moments that He heard my prayer and He heard the prayer of my friends. We may not always get to see our prayers answered so tangibly, but I am thankful God gave me that glimpse in this moment.

Yet, there are so many prayers I pray that God has not yet answered — the salvation of friends and family members, direction for the next stage in life, peace and unity in the Church. The list could go on and on. But when I’m discouraged by the chaos of life and seemingly unanswered prayers, I cling to these moments of remembrance where God so kindly tells me “I hear you, I love you, and I’ll never fail you.”
