Sibling Rivalry
Abraham and Sarah have gone to their rest, and the scene shifts to Isaac and his offspring. Isaac and Rebekah raise a family like many familiesone full of friction and favoritism. This week we will be introduced to one of the most famous sibling rivalries of all time-that of Jacob and Esau, the twins who begin their struggle for supremacy even before they emerge from the womb. And we’ll confront again the truth that God’s chosen servants are fragmented and flawed, that we might know our salvation “depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy” (Rom. 9:16).
